As Marketing Director, you'll guide our talented marketing team while shaping the firm's brand, communications, digital marketing, client and prospect events, and marketing operations. Working closely with firm leadership and the Director of Business Development, you'll bring strategic initiatives to life, elevate the firm's market presence, and help attorneys connect with clients in meaningful ways. POSITION SUMMARY:
The Marketing Director leads the firm's marketing function, developing and executing initiatives that strengthen the firm's brand, reputation, and market presence. Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, this role oversees marketing operations, communications, digital marketing, external-facing events, brand management, and marketing technology while leading the firm's marketing team.
While this position collaborates closely with the firm’s Business Development Director to ensure alignment of marketing initiatives with firm objectives, it is not directly responsible for business development strategy, client pursuits, or revenue generation activities.
Requirements
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Marketing Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop the firm's marketing team, fostering collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
- Establish departmental priorities, workflows, and performance expectations to ensure efficient and effective execution of marketing initiatives.
- Oversee resource allocation and project management across marketing functions.
- Promote innovation and continuous improvement within the marketing department.
Brand Strategy and Communications
- Develop and execute firmwide marketing strategies that reinforce the firm's brand and strategic goals.
- Ensure consistency in the firm's visual identity, messaging, and positioning across all marketing channels.
- Oversee internal and external communications, including firm announcemnts, newsletters, social media, website content, and thought leadership promotion.
- Protect and strengthen the firm's reputation through communications and brand stewardship.
Digital Marketing and Content
- Direct web strategy, content management, SEO, email marketing, and digital campaigns.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of marketing collateral, attorney biographies, practice descriptions, videos, and other promotional materials.
- Monitor digital analytics and marketing performance metrics to evaluate effectiveness and recommend improvements.
Events and Sponsorships
- Oversee planning and execution of firm-sponsored events, seminars, webinars, community engagement activities, and sponsorships.
- Ensure events align with the firm's marketing objectives and brand standards.
- Evaluate event effectiveness through measurable outcomes and post-event analysis.
Marketing Operations
- Manage marketing budgets and vendor relationships.
- Oversee marketing technology platforms, processes, and data integrity.
- Develop and maintain marketing policies, standards, and best practices.
- Implement systems that improve efficiency, collaboration, and project delivery.
Collaboration
- Partner closely with the Business Development Director to align marketing initiatives with the firm's business development priorities and strategic objectives.
- Collaborate to develop integrated campaigns, events, thought leadership, proposals, digital marketing, and client communications that support attorney and practice group goals.
- Work with firm leadership, practice groups, recruiting, and administrative departments to deliver coordinated marketing and business development initiatives.
- Share marketing analytics, campaign performance, and brand insights to inform business development strategies and future opportunities.
- Serve as a trusted advisor on marketing strategy, brand management, and communications.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business, Legal Studies, or a related field.
- Seven to ten years of progressively responsible marketing experience, with at least three years in a leadership role.
- Professional services or legal industry experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong planning, project management, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, client-service environment.
- Proficiency with digital marketing platforms, CRM systems, content management systems, and marketing analytics tools.
- Ability to work with internal and external partners and collaborate with individuals across the organization.
