Description

Neighborhood Health Center is a non-profit organization located in Portland, Oregon serving underserved patients in the areas of primary care, dental services, behavioral health, clinical pharmacy, and more. Our patient-centered approach to care honors the unique needs and circumstances of each individual patient. Summary:

Under the direction and support of the Director of Nursing, this position is responsible for the day to day management and operations of the Nursing Team. The Nursing Manager will collaborate with the Clinic Manager at each site and the Director of Nursing to ensure nursing policies, procedures, and standards of care are being met by all Neighborhood Health Center (NHC) RNs and LPNs. This position is also responsible for ensuring all NHC RNs and LPNs are supported in their day to day work.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Ensures delivery of comprehensive patient care in accordance with nursing standard work and established nursing policies and procedures.
  • Performs interviews, hiring/firing, and corrective action activities for designated nursing positions in partnership with the Director of Nursing and Human Resources.
  • Conducts regular and timely performance reviews that encourage development and / or develops performance plans as needed.
  • Creates an environment to promote ongoing learning and personal growth amongst the Nursing Team.
  • Conducts routine one on one meetings at each Nurses’ worksite.
  • Conducts standard work audits to ensure Nursing Team member compliance to standard work.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Nursing and other leaders to develop, implement, and update nursing procedures and standard work.
  • Conducts Nursing Team meetings for effective team and organizational communication.
  • Recognizes and responds to operational opportunities and the need for additional staffing, training, etc.
  • Understands nursing productivity needs and manages the nursing schedule daily to ensure productivity and nursing coverage across the organization.
  • Promotes and facilitates team resolution of problems and conflicts related to nursing operations, staffing, and patient/customer service issues. Provides solutions when needed.
  • Evaluates nursing metrics and department performance.
  • Executes process improvement initiatives within Nursing Team.
  • Maintains and facilitates open communication with team members, other NHC teams, and NHC Leadership.
  • Performs duties in a manner that reflects and is a role model for behavior expectations and organizational policies.
  • May staff in case of emergency.
  • Directly supervises up to 15 employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and/or Experience:

  • This position requires a bachelor’s degree of Science in Nursing.
  • This position requires completion from an accredited school of nursing.
  • 1-3 years related experience and/or training preferred in FQHC or primary care field.
  • 2 years managerial or supervisory experience required.

License and/or Certification Requirements:

  • This position requires a current, unrestricted Oregon RN license.
  • Active CPR certification required.
