About the Campaign: John Beccia is running for Congress to put people over politics and fight to lower costs for working families, strengthen our local economy, protect health care, and restore trust in government. We're building a grassroots campaign rooted in every community across the North Shore, and we're looking for a Field Director to lead that effort.
Position Overview: The Field Director will oversee all voter contact and organizing operations for the campaign. Working closely with the Campaign Manager, General Consultant, and Coordinated Campaign, this person will develop and execute an ambitious field program that recruits volunteers, manages organizers and fellows, and builds the relationships needed to win.
The ideal candidate is a strong manager, strategic thinker, and experienced organizer who thrives in a fast-paced campaign environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute the campaign's comprehensive field and organizing plan.
- Build and manage a district-wide volunteer program across all 39 communities in the district.
- Recruit, train, and supervise fellows and volunteers.
- Plan and oversee canvasses, phone banks, text banks and community events.
- Establish and monitor weekly goals for doors knocked, phone calls, texts, volunteer recruitment, and event participation.
- Ensure accurate data entry and quality control in NGP VAN and other organizing platforms.
- Produce daily and weekly reports on field metrics, volunteer engagement, and organizing progress.
- Collaborate with the communications, finance, and political teams to support campaign priorities and events.
- Staff the candidate during field events as needed.
- Build relationships with community organizations and local stakeholders throughout the district.
- Help create a positive, inclusive, and mission-driven campaign culture.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- At least one cycle of paid campaign experience, with two or more cycles preferred.
- Previous experience managing organizers, fellows, interns, or volunteers.
- Demonstrated success building volunteer programs and executing voter contact operations.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced campaign environment.
- Experience with NGP VAN required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to Democratic values and grassroots organizing.
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, smartphone, and laptop required.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and irregular campaign hours.
Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with the communities of Massachusetts' 6th Congressional District. Experience working with the MA Democrats, local Democratic committees and community-based organizations.
Compensation: $5,000-$6,000
