Job Title: Canvass Director - Montana Rural Voters Action Fund
Supervisor: Interim Political Director
Start Date: July 28, 2026; applications accepted on a rolling basis as needed
Hours and Duration: 36 hours/week through November 13th, 2026 (typically afternoons and evenings, Wednesday-Sunday)
Location: Billings, MT
Compensation: $27/hour
Employer: Montana Rural Voters Action Fund works to defend and elect candidates for state and federal office who stand up for conservation and rural family agriculture by elevating those issues during the policy-making and electoral processes. We seek to empower and activate rural Montanans and residents in our local state and federal election system. We are organized as a non-connected Political Action Committee not sponsored by or connected to any entities and free to solicit contributions from the general public.
Responsibilities:
Talk to Montana residents, door to door, to understand the biggest issues they are facing ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
Meet weekly goals for direct person to person contacts, in person and over the phone.
Enter data into our database in the field and in the office.
Contribute to a healthy, enjoyable team work environment.

Requirements
Mandatory Qualifications:
Strong verbal communication skills with people of all types
Ability to occasionally travel for out of town, overnight work
Ability to work evenings
Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
Ability to spend hours outside in adverse conditions, walking door to door and talking to people
Commitment to the organization’s values
Must pass a background check
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to drive a work vehicle, including holding a valid driver’s license
Prior canvassing and/or campaign experience
An interest in local politics
Experience working with diverse communities and a commitment to equity and inclusion
